What is Thikr?

Thikr is the remembrance of Allah; It can be by
reading the quran, glorifying Allah, making Tasbeeh, and so many
other ways that allow you to remember Allah.
Our prophet peace be upon him taught us daily phrases and
statements that we should say through out our daily lives in order for
us to continuously remember Allah at all times and at all conditions.

What are “athkaar”?

It’s the plural word for “Thikr”. Multiple
phrases or statements that were taught by our Prophet peace be
upon him, to remember Allah.

 

Why is Thikr Important?

Thikr is important because 1) it keeps you
connected to Allah. 2) It reminds you that Allah is in control of
everything. 3) It keeps your heart soft and purified with Allah’s
remembrance. 4) It brings peace and tranquility to your life. 5) It is
also a mean to receive great reward from Allah and increase your
scale of good deeds. 6) It increases your mindfulness and 7) it can
reduce your stress. 8) It’s full protection from all evil and harm.
Thikr is one of the easiest forms of Worship and yet it can be very
powerful. It can have a powerful impact in your daily lives, mentally,
emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

 

What do you need to perform Thikr?

Sincerity and being mindfully
present! Even if you are not present, keep reading your athkar until
the heart softens to the remembrance of Allah and it will eventually
become present, and the mind will be present.

What are examples of Thikr?

1- Praying your daily 5 prayers.
2- Reciting the Quran.
3- Reading the morning and evening athkar
4- Reading the daily atkhar that are recommended throughout the
day.
