Maryam sat down for lunch. Her plate was in front of her, and she was ready to eat.
She picked up her spoon quickly.
Her mother smiled and asked, “What do we say first?”
Maryam stopped. She looked at her mother and thought for a moment.
Then she smiled and said, “Bismillah.”
Her mother nodded happily. “Yes. We remember Allah before we begin.”
Maryam said it again, a little louder this time: “Bismillah.”
Then she started to eat.
Later that day, Maryam was about to open her book. She remembered the same beautiful words.
She whispered, “Bismillah.”
