Learning Goals

Children will learn:

  • What to say after wudu.
  • When wudu is required.
  • When wudu is recommended (sunnah).
  • The sunnah prayer after wudu.

What Do We Say After Wudu?

We say:

أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له وأشهد أن محمداً عبده ورسوله

Meaning:

“I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.”

Two Rak’ahs After Wudu

If possible, it is sunnah to pray two rak’ahs after wudu.

The Story of Bilal (رضي الله عنه)

One day, the Prophet ﷺ told Bilal:

“I heard your footsteps in Jannah.”

Bilal explained that whenever he made wudu, he prayed as much as Allah allowed him to pray.

Because of this beautiful habit, Allah honored him.

So we should try to pray two rak’ahs after wudu when we can.

When Must We Make Wudu?

We must make wudu before:

  • Salah (Prayer)
  • Touching the Mushaf (according to many scholars)

When Is It Sunnah to Make Wudu?

  • Before sleeping.
  • Before reading Qur’an.
  • Before making dhikr.
  • Before going to the masjid.
  • Whenever we want to stay clean.

Activity

Practice saying the dua after wudu.
